Abstract: For this seminar, I will discuss an ongoing collaboration between University of Michigan/Naval Research Laboratory/Florida State University, in which the main goal is to insert tides into high-resolution global eddying simulations of the HYbrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM). I will briefly touch upon the mechanics of this tidal embedding, the motivation behind it, and example oceanographic applications.
