Yao is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow working with Dustin Goering (NWS NCRFC), Dmitry Beletsky (CIGLR) and Brent Lofgren (NOAA GLERL) to develop decision support tools for agricultural nutrient application timing using the National Water Model framework. The support tools aim t ohelp agricultural producers maximize nutrient retention on the landscape, while simulating ecological impacts on nutrinet transport from runoff events.

I am interested in the interactions between human and environmental systems, in particular how science, technology and policy can work together, bringing us to a new level of understanding our relationships with environment.
