Profile:
Qianqian Liu was a postdoctoral scholar working with Dr. Eric Anderson (GLERL) and Dr. Bopi Biddanda (GVSU) as part of the CIGLR-GLERL postdoctoral fellowship project. She worked to implement a coupled bio-physical model for Muskegon Lake to study how hydrodynamics affects Eutrophication, HABS and Hypoxia over Muskegon Lake. Qianqian graduated from the Graduate School of Oceanography, University of Rhode Island with a PhD degree in Physical Oceanography in May 2015 and worked as a postdoctoral research associate in the School of Marine Sciences at the University of Maine from June 2015 to November 2016. Her Ph.D. work was focused on understanding the fundamental physics of important processes in the southern New England’s inner shelf, and her postdoctoral work at the University of Maine was focused on nutrient and biomass cycles in San Francisco Bay by a coupled physical-biogeochemical model. Qianqian will contribute her expertise in physical and biogeochemical oceanography to study Muskegon Lake, and hopefully to the Michigan-Huron Operational Forecast System in the future.
