Aubrey Arnt is a Research Engagement Specialist within the CIGLR ECO Program. Aubrey works to facilitate communication between CIGLR scientists and communities within the Great Lakes Basin. She holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Macalester College, and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Sustainable Food Studies at the American University of Rome. Aubrey’s ongoing thesis research focuses on the collaboration between Indigenous knowledge systems and Western scientific methodologies, with a specific focus on addressing water quality challenges in the basin. Her research underscores the importance of collaborative approaches to preserve this environmentally critical region. Aubrey is deeply committed to extending her efforts in engaging with Indigenous communities within the region, allowing their insights to be an integral part of the research process if they choose to share their wisdom, and she aspires to extend these opportunities to other marginalized groups to foster inclusive participation in research endeavors.
