He focuses on animal movement and feeding ecology of aquatic animals. He is currently collaborating with various institutions and people from across the world, including Australia, the Caribbean, and the US. Dr. Matley has written extensively on improving the accuracy and expanding the applications of acoustic telemetry, using such techniques to follow foraging behaviors of both marine and aquatic vertebrates.

Education:
  • Ph.D. in Marine Sciences, James Cook University (2016)
  • M.S. in Marine Sciences, University of Manitoba (2012)
  • B.S. in Marine and Freshwater Biology, University of Guelph (2007)
Research Interest/Area of Expertise:
  • Acoustic telemetry
  • Marine biology
