John McClure is a Research Engagement Specialist within the CIGLR ECO Program where he facilitates connections between CIGLR scientists and communities in the Great Lakes region. John studied Environmental Studies and Cultural Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Cruz where he conducted his undergraduate thesis research on differential levels of social vulnerability to local environmental change. He then completed his Masters of Science in Environmental Justice, Policy, and Planning at the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability where he conducted research on uplifting environmental justice and community resilience in Southwest Detroit, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Science, Technology, and Public Policy from the Ford School of Public Policy. John is passionate about working at the intersection of environmental justice and climate resilience, using participatory research to help foster healthy and sustainable communities around the Great Lakes region.
