Profile:
Dr. Freya Rowland is an aquatic ecologist and postdoctoral fellow at Yale University, where she studies the ecology and evolution of pond-breeding amphibians. Dr. Rowland was also a postdoctoral research fellow here at CIGLR from 2018 to 2019, during which time she worked with Craig Stow of NOAA GLERL and Tom Johengen of the University of Michigan, studying harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie. She has also recently published on neonicotinoid pesticides and their effects on non-target wildlife, such as amphibian and fish.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Ecology, University of Missouri-Columbia (2018)
- M.S. in Aquatic Ecology, Miami University (2010)
- B.S. in Biology, German, and Environmental Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison (2007)
Research Interest/Area of Expertise:
- Food Webs and trophic dynamics
- Great Lakes Limnology
- Harmful algal blooms
- Pond-breeding amphibians
- Ecological stoichiometry
